Newfell Properties Ltd is pleased to present a new development of barn conversions built to the highest specifications:
Calthwaite in the Parish of Hesket, lies off the A6 some 7 miles north of Penrith and 13 miles south of Carlisle in Cumbria. Local amenities include Calthwaite C of E School for four to eleven year olds, The Globe Public House and Calthwaite Church on the outskirts of the village. Access to the M6 at junction 41 and the nearest station at Armathwaite are both only 4.5 miles away.
This imposing Hall dates from the early 19th Century and the farm buildings are laid out as a ‘model farm’ around a central courtyard. Most recently a dairy and yoghurt maker, the buildings now form a series of dwellings on three sides with associated covered car parking on the fourth. The buildings are all listed and retain many original external features with thoughtfully designed interiors.
The central courtyard sets the theme for the development as you enter on the cobbled drive beneath the striking arch. Directly ahead lay the covered carports, some retaining further stone arches. A feeling of space and tranquillity are immediately obvious and the antiquated stonework imparts a warm glow.
Each property is individual; the pair on the western side are imposing stone structures and built with an eye to detail as befits their view from the Hall. The original and oldest structure is to the south side, adjoining the entrance arch. To the east of the courtyard are a series of conversions retaining many original features. All form a development of which we are very proud. Click on the links to see more.
